Senior Consultant / Principal Consultant – Digital Buildings Integration – Birmingham, London & Manchester

Overview

In this client-side role, you lead delivery of digital-building and workplace technology programmes, aligning IT infrastructure with construction and operational priorities. You coordinate cross-functional teams, manage scope, risks and procurement, and ensure technology outcomes are delivered and handed over smoothly. You’ll work with clients, designers, and vendors to navigate complex interfaces across IT, OT and building systems. Responsibilities

• Lead defined property and technology projects or workstreams from initiation to close-out
• Manage scope, programme, budget, risks, dependencies and decisions with clear governance
• Align technology milestones with construction and operational-readiness activities (RIBA Plan of Work stages)
• Identify blockers early and drive proportionate resolution to protect cost and schedule
• Produce concise reporting for sponsors and senior stakeholders
• Coordinate designers, contractors, vendors and resources for networks, cabling, AV and related infrastructure
• Manage interfaces between IT infrastructure, smart-building and OT systems within the delivery programme
• Ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and bring specialist support as needed
• Support testing, commissioning, handover and operational readiness to preserve technology outcomes
• Support technology-procurement activity including tenders, evaluations and supplier coordination
• Maintain commercial controls, changes and supplier performance appropriate to the commission
• Build trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners while ensuring accountability
• Mentor colleagues, share learning and contribute to proposition development
• Contribute to client relationships and opportunity development in line with appointment level
• Lead defined bids and commissions at Principal Consultant level
• Grow the Building Integration capability and mentor teams

Key requirements

• Experience leading client-side technology or IT infrastructure delivery in commercial occupier, workplace, construction or fit-out environments
• Track record of managing scope, programme, budget, risks, stakeholders and delivery partners on complex projects
• Practical experience of networks, communications rooms, structured cabling, telecommunications, cloud or on-premises environments and audiovisual systems
• Ability to coordinate IT infrastructure interfaces with smart-building, OT and BMS systems
• Strong stakeholder-management and clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences
• Proactive, resourceful approach to risk identification and decision pursuit
• Project-management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, APM PMQ or AgilePM) or equivalent delivery experience
• Experience client-side or with technology integrators/contractors in advisory and assurance roles
