Accounts Payable Team Lead

Overview

In this role you own and develop the Accounts Payable and Disbursements function within a growing finance team. You will drive efficient, accurate processing and timely cashflow activities while shaping how the team operates. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders to deliver KPIs, improve processes and support system changes. This hybrid Manchester position offers a chance to impact operations and governance in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of AP and Disbursements teams and ensure workloads align with SLAs
• Manage invoices, payments and reconciliations and resolve related queries
• Develop and support team performance, culture, and monthly KPI reporting to senior Finance
• Oversee supplier reconciliations, creditor balances and weekly payment runs across AP, Disbursements and Expenses
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes; support system implementations
• Deliver training on process changes and assist with annual audit as required

Key requirements

• Experience managing, developing and motivating a finance or transactional team
• Resource planning skills to balance workloads and priorities
• Experience leading teams through change, process improvement or transformation
• Problem-solving and root cause analysis with aim of automation and efficiency
• Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills
• Confidence influencing senior stakeholders, fee earners and budget holders
• Knowledge of supplier reconciliations, payment runs and purchase-to-pay processes
