Commercial Manager

Overview

In this role you drive region-specific commercial strategy and cost management for data center projects, ensuring budget alignment and efficient delivery. You will collaborate with design, engineering and procurement teams and report on commercial performance across the lifecycle. Your work supports continuous improvement and alignment with regional needs, contributing to Vantage’s mission of reliable, sustainable data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and approve project cost plans using the established cost model
• Lead regular cost reviews with cost managers and support monthly reporting cycles
• Support development and deployment of new reporting tools, methods and policies
• Collaborate with design, engineering and procurement to align commercial goals with project requirements
• Provide commercial support to initiatives and other VDC departments with accurate reporting
• Provide strategic local insight to align practices with regional variances
• Ensure template adherence and policy compliance, including change control and REACH process
• Support regional projects across Development Pre-Construction and Project Execution phases
• Assist in tender preparation and evaluation, bid leveling, and cost database maintenance
• Define and track cost performance measures and risks, including client reimbursable costs
• Coordinate with customer teams on lease requirements and cost changes affecting supply chain
• Support site teams in risk management, contracts administration and invoicing processes
• Guide cost managers in negotiations with vendors and ensure timely final accounts and close-out

Key requirements

• Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management or equivalent discipline
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil construction disciplines
• Knowledge of estimating disciplines and multi-project management
• Experience with contingency evaluation, durations, escalation, reconciliations for estimates
• Experience preparing business cases and cost estimates for whole projects
• Expert knowledge of MS Office tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word) for reporting and manpower allocation
• Willingness to travel minimum 20% of time
• Developer experience is an advantage
