GRCS Assistant Manager

Overview

As Assistant Manager, you will oversee internal audit and grants assurance work, guiding engagements from planning through reporting. You’ll manage client relationships, budgets, resources and delivery, while coordinating specialist input and supporting business development. You’ll mentor teammates on risk management and audit methodology to strengthen client outcomes. You will work across UK-wide client portfolios and help shape plans and assurance approaches that align with KPMG standards and client priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver internal audit and grants assurance engagements across planning, fieldwork, QA and reporting
• Develop and implement internal audit strategies and annual plans aligned with client priorities and KPMG methodology
• Review audit evidence for sufficiency and oversee clear reporting
• Build relationships with client staff and escalate significant issues to partners/directors
• Oversee client portfolio management including budgets, WIP, fees and resource allocation
• Coordinate specialist input and collaborate with client internal audit teams
• Coach colleagues on risk management and audit methodology and support team objectives
• Identify opportunities for business development including tender documents and proposals

Key requirements

• Strong understanding of risks, processes and controls with audit/assurance experience
• Experience overseeing fieldwork and delivering planning, review and reporting
• Experience as a primary or secondary client contact with senior finance stakeholders
• Effective report writing and ability to communicate findings to clients and senior stakeholders
• Strong project management skills including delivery, resource and priority management
• Private/public sector and/or professional services experience with commercial awareness and client service mindset
