Interim Finance Business Partner – Projects
£350 per day (inside IR35) – 6 month contract – Hybrid working (2 days per week in office)
Archer Mac is delighted to be partnering with a prominent government organisation to appoint two Interim Finance Business Partner’s to support its Project Portfolio.
The role
You’ll report to the Project Accountant, work closely with the Head of FP&A, and you’ll be the lead finance contact for Project Managers, Senior Responsible Owners and budget holders across the department. You’ll lead the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles and oversee month-end and year-end processes, including accruals. You’ll also set clear targets that help budget holders strengthen their financial management.
You’ll also play a central part in the business case process. That means advising on value for money and affordability, helping writers shape strong cases, and representing FP&A at Project Boards. You’ll also support work on the Corporate Plan and the Main and Supplementary Estimates, and lead responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests.
About you
You’ll be a chartered accountant, either fully qualified or part-qualified and working towards full qualification. You’ll have solid experience of management accounting, financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting. Experience in government finance and a working knowledge of public sector accounting, including Supply Estimates, are essential.
Your people skills matter just as much. You’ll be confident explaining complex financial issues to non-finance colleagues and comfortable influencing stakeholders at every level. You’ll also stay calm and methodical when priorities shift. Strong Excel skills and exposure to project management would be a real advantage.
