Associate Director EIA – Bristol or Cardiff

Overview

As an Associate Director at WSP you will lead and shape environmental inputs across multi-disciplinary energy projects. You’ll work with technical specialists and design teams to improve environmental performance within a broad project portfolio. The role focuses on guiding delivery, recruitment, bids and financials while expanding our offering in the water sector. You will drive innovative approaches and client partnerships to support Net Zero commitments and sustainable design.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead environmental teams across multi-sector projects
• Oversee recruitment, bidding, project delivery and financial management
• Advance expansion and diversification in the water sector with sector leads and client managers
• Provide environmental advice to clients, PMs and colleagues
• Build client relationships and identify resourcing, programming, and strategy opportunities
• Develop proposals for complex opportunities and lead strategic bids and frameworks
• Drive development of innovative techniques (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence)
• Promote team culture, health and safety, and contribute to WSP business strategy

Key requirements

• Relevant environmental/planning degree or equivalent experience
• Experience delivering EIA for major water schemes
• Familiarity with Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI Assents
• Strong knowledge of environmental issues across projects
• Proven line management experience
• Proven track record of developing and upskilling teams
• Evidence of driving business growth
