Overview

As a Senior/Principal Transport Planner at Jacobs, you will help shape sustainable, future‑ready transport solutions for clients across the UK. You’ll work within the Midlands Transport Planning team to deliver strategic planning work, masterplans, and policy guidance, collaborating with public and private sector partners. You’ll tackle diverse challenges from transport strategies to business case development and emerging mobility technologies. This role offers leadership opportunities, client engagement, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive meaningful urban mobility outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead work streams on strategic transport planning projects
• Mentor and supervise junior planners and analysts
• Provide technical direction to ensure high‑quality outputs
• Engage with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to development of transport strategies, masterplans and policy recommendations
• Support Transport Assessments, Business Cases and other analytical work
• Advise on emerging technologies (electric vehicles, mobility innovation, DRT)
• Collaborate with Local Authorities, Sub‑National Transport Bodies, National Highways and clients

Key requirements

• A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
• Experience as a Senior Transport Planner
• Technical understanding of transport planning areas (e.g., Local Transport Plans, Local Plans, modelling, data analysis, strategy/policy development)
