About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to support a strategic transformation programme within a leading bank, focused on reimagining and migrating an existing SAS-based Credit Risk estate onto Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Working closely with business and Credit Risk stakeholders, you will be responsible for understanding and documenting existing analytical processes and customer journeys, translating business needs into clear technical requirements, and supporting GCP architects and engineers in designing and rebuilding these capabilities.

This role requires a strong combination of business analysis, stakeholder management, technical documentation and banking domain expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead workshops and interviews with business and Credit Risk users to understand existing SAS analytics and reporting processes.
  • Identify, document and maintain an inventory of customer journeys and use cases within scope.
  • Build effective relationships across business, risk, data and technology teams.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritise journeys based on business value, risk and complexity.

Process Mapping and Documentation

  • Document current-state (AS-IS) processes end to end, including data inputs, sources, processing steps, outputs, dependencies, controls and pain points.
  • Develop detailed process flows and workflow diagrams using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart or Draw.io.
  • Capture upstream and downstream dependencies, manual interventions and operational controls.
  • Maintain clear, structured and reusable documentation throughout the programme.

Requirements and Future-State Design

  • Translate business needs into detailed requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Define future-state (TO-BE) requirements to support the migration and redevelopment of existing journeys on GCP.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, self-service reporting, Looker dashboards and conversational analytics.
  • Highlight inefficiencies, risks, process gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Technical Collaboration and Delivery

  • Act as the link between business and Credit Risk users and GCP architects and engineers.
  • Explain documented processes and business requirements to technical teams throughout design and delivery.
  • Support validation and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of rebuilt journeys.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement and show-and-tell sessions.
  • Track delivery progress, risks, issues and dependencies, supporting project governance and RAID reporting.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of Credit Risk processes and how business users utilise analytics and reporting to support risk activities.
  • Experience supporting data, analytics, cloud migration or platform transformation programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience facilitating workshops and eliciting requirements from senior business and risk stakeholders.
  • Strong experience producing process maps, workflow diagrams, requirements documentation, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to translate complex business processes into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of data concepts, including data sources, lineage, processing and reporting outputs.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across blended teams comprising client stakeholders, risk analysts and technical delivery teams.
  • Availability to work onsite in Halifax each week, in line with the agreed hybrid working pattern.
  • Previous experience working with Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) and/or LeMans.
  • Working knowledge of SAS analytics and its application within Credit Risk.
  • Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery and/or Looker.
  • Experience working with offshore teams or multi-vendor delivery environments.
  • Exposure to AI, conversational analytics or self-service reporting use cases.
  • Basic SQL skills.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to contribute to a significant banking transformation initiative, helping bridge the gap between Credit Risk business requirements and technical delivery as an established analytics estate is modernised on GCP.
