Business Analyst – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
6 Months Initially | Outside IR35 | Potential Extension to 17 Months
Location: Hybrid (Occasional site visit to either Birmingham or Luton)
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Business Analyst / Dynamics 365 Business Central Specialist to support a major on-premise-to-cloud migration and Finance ERP transformation programme.
This is not a generic Business Analyst role or a high-level ERP advisory assignment.
We need someone who has worked directly with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ideally through a complex cloud migration, and understands the practical challenges of modernising finance processes, migrating financial data and rationalising legacy integrations.
You’ll work closely with Finance, IT, Solution Architecture and an implementation partner, helping take the programme from detailed discovery through to an agreed future-state solution design.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading Business Central discovery, requirements gathering and finance process analysis.
- Undertaking fit-gap assessments between existing customisations and standard Business Central cloud functionality.
- Defining financial data migration, validation and reconciliation requirements, including Chart of Accounts considerations.
- Mapping integrations, data flows and dependencies across legacy systems.
- Challenging historic processes and identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate.
- Supporting future-state finance process design, solution decisions and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitating workshops and translating complex Finance requirements into clear, actionable technical deliverables.
- Working directly with architects, Finance SMEs and implementation partners to resolve gaps and drive discovery forward.
What we’re looking for
- Significant hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.
- Demonstrable involvement in a Business Central on-premise-to-cloud migration or substantial Business Central finance transformation.
- Strong Finance ERP knowledge, including core financial processes, controls and Chart of Accounts.
- Practical experience of financial data migration, reconciliation and validation.
- Proven ability to conduct detailed ERP discovery, process mapping, requirements analysis and fit-gap assessments.
- Experience working with complex integrations, legacy applications and heavily customised ERP environments.
- Confidence challenging existing processes and working independently to deliver tangible outcomes.
Experience with IFRS 16 / lease accounting solutions, including ProLease, would also be advantageous.
The opportunity
This is a substantial transformation programme, not simply a technical cloud upgrade.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence the future Business Central finance model, help reduce unnecessary customisation and support the transition towards a more standardised, integrated cloud environment.
We’re particularly interested in professionals who can bridge the gap between Finance stakeholders and technical delivery teams – people who understand how Business Central works in practice and can turn complex discovery into deliverable requirements and design decisions.
