Joinery Project Manager / Fit-Out Project Manager – Bespoke Commercial Joinery (Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire and London)An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Joinery Project Manager to join a specialist joinery manufacturer based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, delivering bespoke joinery packages for commercial fit-out projects in London and the South East.Our client designs, manufactures and installs bespoke joinery in its own workshop, with a strong focus on sustainable joinery. Projects are mainly commercial fit-out with joinery packages of up to £1 million.This is a senior role for a Project Manager with a genuine joinery background who can run projects as the number one, from order handover through design approvals, procurement, workshop manufacture and finishing, to installation, snagging and close-out. You will split your time between the office and workshop in Letchworth and client sites in London.What You’ll Be Doing:Leading joinery contracts from order handover to close-out, owning the contract programme and the key drivers of each project: programme, setting out, procurement, production, installation and close-outManaging budgets and margins, reviewing CVRs, giving early warning of overspends and spotting commercial risks before they become problemsAdministering JCT contracts, including variations, valuations, payment applications and final accounts, and making sure work is manufactured and installed in time for valuation datesBuilding and updating detailed programmes and logistics plans so workshop output matches site readinessWorking with the design team on samples, technical submittals, setting out rods and design meetings, and getting drawings approved and issued into productionManaging the procurement schedule and buying the non-production items for each contractActing as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, architects, interior designers and the internal joinery team, and attending site and progress meetingsArranging site surveys, preparing the site health and safety file, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and managing site safetySupervising installation teams, checking joinery quality in the workshop and from outsourced suppliers, and managing snagging and handoverProducing contract reports and helping to develop client relationships and win new projectsWhat We’re Looking For:At least 3 to 5 years managing high-value projects in bespoke joinery, cabinetry, shopfitting, high-end retail or commercial fit-outA practical background in bench joinery, cabinet making or joinery installationProven experience with JCT contracts and with managing variations and changes in scopeConfident reading architectural and joinery drawings, with a working understanding of CAD and timber manufacturingA valid CSCS card (Black or Gold) and SMSTS or SSSTSFirst Aid at Work (desirable)Strong programme, project and team management skills, with confident negotiation and communicationHighly organised and detail-focused, and able to work under pressure and manage a changing to-do listProficient in Microsoft Office and OutlookWithin commuting distance of Letchworth Garden City, with the ability to travel into London as projects requireWhat’s On Offer:Salary: £65,000 to £85,000 per year, depending on experience, and more may be available for the right candidate.
