We are an established high-end residential construction company seeking an experienced Business Development Consultant to generate new construction opportunities and build long‑term relationships with property investors, developers, private clients and industry professionals.
Our projects include bespoke new-build homes, luxury refurbishments, complex extensions, loft conversions, landscaping and external works. We are also looking to expand into multi‑home residential developments, including small housing estates.
You will use your existing professional network, develop new strategic partnerships and identify suitable projects at an early stage.
Working closely with the Managing Director and estimating team, you will help progress opportunities through tendering, negotiation and contract award.
Your primary responsibility is to create new business opportunities, secure profitable projects and develop relationships that generate repeat business, rather than manage incoming sales enquiries.
What You Will Do
Proactively identify and generate new residential construction and development opportunities through your professional network and targeted business development activities
Build long‑term relationships with property investors, developers, private clients and key decision‑makers
Develop strategic referral partnerships with architects, interior designers, property advisers, quantity surveyors and project managers
Identify suitable opportunities for bespoke homes, luxury refurbishments, extensions, loft conversions, landscaping and external works
Generate opportunities for multi‑home developments and small housing estates
Arrange and attend meetings, introduce the company’s capabilities and secure invitations to tender
Qualify potential projects based on scope, budget, funding readiness, planning status, location and programme
Work with the Managing Director and estimating team to support proposals, presentations, tender discussions and negotiations
Maintain relationships with existing contacts and clients to encourage repeat projects and referrals
Keep accurate CRM records and provide regular updates on business development activities, opportunities and next steps
Help convert suitable opportunities into signed contracts and coordinate a structured handover to the internal team
Requirements
Proven experience in business development within UK residential construction, property development or a closely related sector
Established professional network involving property investors, developers, private clients or relevant industry advisers
Demonstrable experience personally generating and helping secure construction projects
Track record of developing long‑term commercial relationships that lead to repeat business or referrals
Good understanding of residential construction, tendering, procurement and property development processes
Ability to identify and qualify commercially viable construction opportunities
Confidence discussing project scope, budgets, programmes and commercial requirements
Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship‑building skills
Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with technical and commercial teams
Organised approach to follow‑up, CRM records and reporting
Availability to attend meetings across Hertfordshire, London and surrounding areas
Experience with multi‑home developments or small housing estates preferred
Full UK driving licence preferred
We are looking for an experienced professional who can open doors, establish valuable industry connections and demonstrate a proven ability to generate construction opportunities that lead to profitable projects and repeat business.
