Are you a people person who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and making things happen? Do you have a background in customer service, recruitment, marketing or a similar role where engaging with people and achieving results really matters?
We are recruiting a Recruitment & Community Engagement Coordinator to help connect people with rewarding volunteering opportunities and support local organisations to find the volunteers they need.
This is a varied, people-focused role combining customer service, recruitment, marketing and community engagement. You will be helping people find opportunities that suit their interests and skills, while working with organisations to understand their needs and promote their opportunities to the right audience.
Oxted | £27,000-£29,000 FTE | 21 hours per week
What will you be doing?
- Responding to enquiries from people interested in volunteering, understanding what motivates them and helping them find suitable opportunities.
- Promoting volunteering opportunities through websites, communications, events and other local channels to attract new volunteers.
- Speaking with voluntary and community organisations to understand their requirements and help them recruit the right people.
- Interviewing prospective volunteers, discussing their interests and experience, and matching them with suitable opportunities.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, community groups and partner organisations across East Surrey.
- Keeping records and databases up to date, following up enquiries and monitoring outcomes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the service, increase engagement and help more people get involved in their local community.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will bring experience from a customer-facing, recruitment, marketing or community-focused role, where you have had to engage people, understand their needs and encourage them to take action.
You will be a confident communicator who enjoys talking to different people, building relationships and finding solutions. You will also be organised, comfortable using digital systems and able to manage your workload without needing constant supervision.
Most importantly, you will be proactive, results-driven and motivated by making a difference. You will enjoy working towards goals, following things through and seeing the positive results of your efforts.
Previous volunteer recruitment experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential. Relevant skills from other sectors are very welcome, and full training and ongoing support will be provided.
You must be eligible to work in the UK (indefinitely & without sponsorship).
The opportunity
You will join a small, supportive team where your contribution genuinely matters. Based at the Oxted office, with travel to organisations and community groups across Tandridge and Reigate and Banstead, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to local people and communities.
Additional information: Occasional out-of-hours events, with time off in lieu in line with policy.
