Improvement Manager

Overview

In this Improvement Manager role at Devonport Royal Dockyard, you will drive efficiency across the 10 Dock Redevelopment Programme by identifying and implementing process improvements. You will work with multidisciplinary teams spanning programme management, engineering, design, construction, and customers to lift performance and delivery excellence. You’ll lead improvement initiatives, embed best practices, and support seamless transitions from design to construction and commissioning. This role offers the chance to influence complex civil engineering delivery in a highly regulated setting and contribute to national infrastructure projects with a clear impact.

Responsibilities

• Review and enhance project, engineering and delivery processes to boost performance and efficiency
• Lead improvement initiatives, workshops and working groups to standardize ways of working
• Support information, deliverables and decisions transition from design to construction and commissioning
• Build and nurturerelationships with design teams, programme teams, construction partners and customers to improve collaboration
• Monitor and report improvement activities, identify delivery barriers and propose solutions to senior leadership

Key requirements

• Experience in complex civil engineering, infrastructure or major programme environments
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to build productive cross‑functional relationships
• Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements through process optimisation
• Experience working across technical, engineering and project delivery functions
• Ability to influence and align multidisciplinary teams to meet programme objectives
