Design Manager

Overview

In this role you lead design management for design-and-build projects from concept to sign-off, coordinating pre-construction through to handover. You will ensure technical compliance and manage design deliverables, schedules, and documentation while engaging clients and consultants. The position supports project delivery across live environments, with a focus on collaboration and delivering high-quality, integrated engineering solutions. This is an opportunity to shape design strategy in a client-centric, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design teams through the project life cycle from concept to handover
• Ensure technical compliance and accuracy across projects
• Engage with stakeholders to refine design briefs
• Develop scope of work, contracts, and deliverables with consultants and sub-contractors
• Create design delivery schedules and BIM delivery plans
• Provide technical governance during construction and commissioning
• Manage RFIs, drawings reviews, submittals, and as-built documentation
• Support quantity surveying with tender management and cost analysis

Key requirements

• Proven background in design management in live, critical environments
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Relevant degree level qualification in Engineering fields
• CSC (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cardholder
