Job Description:

Commercial Sales Manager (Pharma), Birmingham

An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level Commercial Sales Manager (Pharma) to shape the future of Healthcare in Birmingham.

Pharma commercial teams are under more pressure than ever to prove value, not just move volume. This is a large, established healthcare organisation with a national footprint and a Birmingham base that anchors a significant chunk of its commercial operation. They’ve built their reputation over decades on scale and consistency. Now they need someone who can hold that structure together while pushing revenue forward.

The Commercial Sales Manager (Pharma) role sits at the centre of that effort. You’ll own commercial relationships that matter, work inside frameworks that already work, and still have room to make the job your own.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and growing a portfolio of pharma accounts across the Birmingham region and beyond
  • Building commercial proposals and pricing structures that hold up under NHS and private sector scrutiny
  • Running the full sales cycle, from lead qualification through to contract negotiation and close
  • Working closely with medical affairs and regulatory colleagues to keep every pitch compliant and credible
  • Reporting on pipeline, forecasting revenue, and flagging risk to senior leadership before it becomes a problem
  • Coaching junior sales staff on product knowledge and negotiation technique

Here are the skills you’ll need:

  • Proven sales experience within pharma, medical devices, or a closely related healthcare sector
  • Solid grasp of NHS procurement processes and the commercial pressures unique to healthcare
  • Confident negotiator who can hold their ground with senior stakeholders without burning the relationship
  • Comfortable with CRM systems and forecasting tools. Excel fluency helps
  • Clear communicator, written and verbal. You’ll be presenting to clinicians as often as procurement teams
  • A degree in life sciences, business, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if the track record speaks for itself

Key perks and benefits:

  • £45,000 to £58,500, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working, with regular time in the Birmingham office balanced against home flexibility
  • Private medical and dental insurance from day one
  • Enhanced pension scheme well above the statutory minimum
  • Performance-based bonuses on top of base salary
  • A comprehensive benefits package built for people who plan to stay

Why pursue a career in Healthcare?

Healthcare commercial roles rarely stand still. Demand keeps rising, budgets keep tightening, and the people who can sell into that tension well are never short of options. Birmingham has become one of the UK’s stronger healthcare hubs outside London, with real infrastructure and real career runway behind it. A Commercial Sales Manager (Pharma) who performs here builds a CV that opens doors across the whole sector, not just one employer.

This Commercial Sales Manager (Pharma) opportunity is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
