About the Company

Our client is a well established engineering and technology group at the forefront of sustainable transport, with operations across Northern Ireland and England. The group is building out a central technology function to bring data, digital and IT delivery together across its businesses. It offers the stability of an established organisation with the energy of a team shaping how technology is delivered for years to come.

The Role

This is a new, senior role within Group Technology, reporting to the CIO with a matrix line into the Office of the CTO. You’ll own technical delivery across the group, starting with a connected vehicle programme that brings together telematics, engineering, data and digital workstreams. Alongside that, you’ll run several initiatives at once, including a Salesforce harmonisation project, and set the standards for how technical change is delivered as the function grows towards a group PMO. No manufacturing or engineering sector background is needed… strong delivery experience from any IT, data or digital environment will translate well. It suits a hands on, pragmatic delivery lead who enjoys building structure where none exists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical projects and programmes end to end across Data, Digital and IT

  • Lead the connected vehicle programme, coordinating engineering, data and digital workstreams

  • Manage several technology initiatives at once, including Salesforce harmonisation

  • Plan, budget and resource projects, managing risk, issues and dependencies

  • Align business, executive and technical stakeholders behind a shared plan

  • Translate technical detail into clear options for senior leadership

  • Remove blockers and drive change through to adoption

  • Build templates, standards and lightweight governance for a new group delivery function

  • Grow the function towards a group PMO as further project managers join

  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to speed up planning, documentation and reporting

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years managing technical projects in an IT, data or digital environment

  • Experience running several projects concurrently

  • A track record of hands on, end to end delivery, driving change through to adoption

  • The full project management toolkit, covering planning, budgets, risk, dependencies, governance and reporting

  • Strong stakeholder management across business, executive and technical audiences

  • Confidence engaging with engineers and technical teams

  • A degree in a technical, IT, data or business discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • A recognised qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, Agile or MSP

  • Exposure to telematics, connected vehicle, IoT or Salesforce delivery

  • Experience setting up a PMO or new delivery function

Why Apply?

  • Up to £70,000 plus bonus

  • Annual leave, pension and life assurance scheme

  • Hybrid working in Ballymena

  • Onsite parking

  • The chance to build and shape a new group wide delivery function

  • Direct access to senior leadership across the group

  • High profile work across connected vehicle, data and digital transformation
