Job Description:

Winchester pet sitter, self-employed: Itchen villages, the city and holiday cover

Nobody wants to put a much-loved dog into kennels for a week, and in Winchester plenty of owners will pay for a sitter who lets the dog stay home. We are looking for three self-employed pet sitters, one for the city, one for Weeke and Harestock and one for the villages along the Itchen. That is not a walking role.

You would care for a dog at the owner’s house: a visit or two daily, nights in the house, or a longer stay. The owner leaves a routine, and you follow it. Food, medication, toilet breaks, a walk and company, followed by an update to the owner every day.

You decide what to charge per visit and per night. Owners settle up in the app and the payout is made to your bank. Because WoofWalk is an app and not an employer, there is no wage and there is no guaranteed work; your tax, National Insurance and insurance are yours to manage. We have no Winchester sitting prices in our research, so we suggest none.

Home boarding is different, and it needs its own paperwork. Dogs sleeping at your address require a licence from the council before you take a booking, and the app lists it as a separate service. At the owner’s house, no licence is required.

Commission: free to join, nothing for the first 14 days, then 15% of each booking. If five of your own clients join through you the rate is 10% for life. A client you bring yourself pays 10% on their first booking and every one after.

Over 18.
