Overview

As a Senior AI Automation Engineer, you will design and deliver production-grade AI-powered solutions within a governed enterprise. You’ll bridge AI engineering, software development and automation to move concepts into scalable, observable, secure production systems. You’ll work with Copilot Studio, Power Platform and Azure to build and orchestrate intelligent workflows and agents, partnering with cross-functional teams to embed reliable AI capabilities at enterprise scale. This role offers hands-on leadership in technical design, code reviews and setting engineering standards in a growing AI capability.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI agents and multi-step automated workflows
• Develop production-grade Python services, APIs and automation pipelines
• Create solutions using Copilot Studio and Power Platform
• Orchestrate workflows across Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry and internal systems
• Integrate AI apps with REST/GraphQL APIs and event-driven architectures
• Develop reusable connectors, tools and agent capabilities
• Design agent orchestration, tool-use and integration patterns
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
• Deploy and monitor AI applications in production
• Ensure solutions are scalable, observable, secure and maintainable
• Lead technical design discussions and code reviews
• Support and mentor junior engineers and establish engineering standards

Key requirements

• Strong commercial Python engineering experience (APIs, testing, modular architecture, asynchronous processing)
• Strong experience with Microsoft Copilot / Copilot Studio
• Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform and workflow automation
• Experience delivering production AI/LLM applications, agents or AI-powered workflows
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry or comparable AI platforms
• Understanding of agentic AI patterns, orchestration, tool use, prompt design and LLM limitations
• Strong API and systems integration experience (REST/GraphQL)
• Experience designing reusable services, connectors and integration components
• Azure experience across Functions, containers and AI services
• Strong CI/CD, Git and automated testing experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Azure Container Apps
• Understanding of production monitoring, reliability and observability
• Experience with AI governance, event-driven systems in regulated environments (beneficial)
