Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer

Overview

In this Individual Contributor role at Oracle, you will drive platform-wide standards and guardrails to enable secure, reliable, and scalable software across multiple teams. You’ll own cross-group initiatives (identity, config, API gateways) with measurable impact on reliability and performance, and shape observability, security controls, and API lifecycle practices. You’ll collaborate with SRE and security to guide architecture and governance, while mentoring engineers and improving the software development lifecycle. This is a chance to influence large-scale platforms and contribute to Oracle’s mission of AI-enabled cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

• Define group-wide guardrails for interoperability, security, and client library governance
• Own cross-group programs (identity, config, API gateway standards) with measurable impact
• Establish shared observability frameworks and rollout policies; manage deprecation risk
• Lead software design, testing, and optimization; develop foundational code for new projects
• Coach engineers across teams to improve SDLC execution and quality
• Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on design and best practices
• Utilize modern technologies to debug and resolve complex software issues
• Drive initiatives to optimize testing, QA, logging, and observability
• Promote innovation and industry best practices to boost performance
• Implement API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies
• Collaborate with security to enforce secure development practices and standards
• Lead maintenance initiatives ensuring service availability and reliability
• Act as SME to guide features and enhancements with clear documentation

Key requirements

• 6 to 10+ years of experience
