Apply for the Head of Business Development (A30776C)
Location: London
Job Description:

Referment is working with a market-leading UK insurance organisation that operates as a Managing General Agent, combining its own technology platform with insurance expertise so that well-known brands can offer flexible, modern insurance products directly to their customers. It partners with global organisations, capacity providers and third-party supply chain networks to reshape how insurance is sold and serviced.

You will join an established UK commercial team as Head of Business Development, acting as a key commercial driver behind acquiring new enterprise partners, expanding market footprint and forging high-value insurance partnerships. Working alongside experienced commercial leaders, account managers and solution architects, you will combine a sharp hunter instinct with a deep understanding of the UK general insurance landscape to turn prospective opportunities into long-term, scalable revenue.

The Role

  • Lead end-to-end sales processes for enterprise-level insurance opportunities, delivering against revenue and strategic targets
  • Identify, qualify and nurture a pipeline of high-potential clients, managing complex sales cycles from initial outreach through to commercial sign-off
  • Mobilise cross-functional teams across commercial, platform product, legal, compliance and underwriting capacity partners to build commercially viable, compliant solutions
  • Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders
  • Elevate market profile through targeted campaigns, joint sales and marketing initiatives and active industry engagement
  • Use performance data, market and competitor insight to refine business development strategies, and feed structured win/lose debriefs back into the product roadmap

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated success as an enterprise-level hunter in business development, consistently exceeding revenue targets in complex sales environments
  • Significant experience in the UK insurance partnerships sector, for example OEM, retail or bancassurance
  • Strong understanding of the UK general insurance market, including MGA operating models, delegated authority and FCA regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to structure complex, multi-faceted deals and navigate long sales cycles across matrixed enterprise clients
  • Exceptional communication, pitching and negotiation skills with credibility at board and executive level
  • ACII qualification is highly desirable, or equivalent proven insurance market experience

This is a UK-based hybrid role within a collaborative commercial structure. This could suit a senior business development or partnerships professional from an MGA, insurer, broker or embedded insurance platform background with strong UK insurance distribution experience.
