Head of Finance/ Financial Controller

In this senior role you will lead the finance function across multiple units, shaping financial strategy and governance. You will partner with senior stakeholders to drive robust planning, reporting, and investment decisions. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a finance team with coaching and support
• Oversee monthly management accounts, quarterly reporting, and statutory financial statements
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes
• Provide strategic financial advice and decision support to senior leaders
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance, and compliance with standards and policies
• Monitor performance, identify risks/opportunities, and recommend corrective actions
• Deliver insightful financial analysis for operational and strategic decisions
• Oversee complex income streams including grants and externally funded projects
• Lead preparation of annual financial returns and submissions
• Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting processes, and efficiency
• Support growth initiatives, investment projects, and change programmes

Key requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Significant senior finance leadership experience (e.g., Financial Controller, Head of Finance)
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning experience
• Proven experience developing and managing finance teams
• Excellent analytical skills translating financial data into business insight
• Experience implementing/improving financial controls and reporting frameworks
• Strong stakeholder management and advisory capabilities with senior leadership
