Specification Advisor – Architecture

In this role you will develop high-quality architectural specifications within our Technical Design Group, collaborating with architects and specialist teams to elevate technical excellence, sustainability, and innovation across a global portfolio. You will influence technical design decisions and procurement strategies from concept to delivery, while staying at the forefront of new materials and construction methods. You contribute to a design-led practice that aims for consistency and best practice across projects worldwide. Responsibilities

• Create and refine architectural specifications across projects to drive technical quality and sustainability
• Collaborate with architects and specialist teams (facades, fire safety, sustainability, building technology) to align specifications with design intent
• Influence technical design decisions and procurement strategies from concept through delivery
• Stay informed on emerging materials, methods, and industry standards to inform specifications
• Promote quality, consistency, and best practices across a global design practice

Key requirements

• Proven experience writing architectural specifications within a design or built environment setting
• Strong technical understanding of building systems, construction materials, and procurement processes
• Experience contributing to complex projects across the UK and/or international markets
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specification-writing platforms such as NBS Chorus or similar
• Collaborative and proactive approach with ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work to demanding deadlines
