a global technology manufacturer operating across two sites in Telford, delivering advanced infrastructure to major international customers.

Package and terms

• Contract: Open to an initial 3-month contract, rate open / negotiable
• Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Telford
• Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00, with occasional call-outs and standby (paid)
• Fully on-site role, as the position needs a daily on-site presence across both sites and the ability to respond to call-outs

Main focus:

a hands‑on IT manager with strong Cisco networking and VMware skills, who still configures kit themselves while leading a small team.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Manage the WAN and LAN across two sites (Cisco plus other enterprise vendors), keeping the network secure, resilient and available
• Look after the VMware vSphere environment on enterprise blade servers and storage
• Lead a wireless network migration project
• Maintain ISO 27001 compliance and support internal and external IT audits
• Support Microsoft 365 and cloud security tools, working with the wider group IT team
• Lead and develop a small on-site IT team
• Manage suppliers and contracts, with delegated authority on spend
• Handle escalations, incidents and out-of‑hours call‑outs
• Report to senior management and carry out IT projects and improvements
• Proven experience as an IT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Infrastructure Lead
• Strong hands‑on Cisco networking (switching, routing, firewalls)
• Hands‑on VMware vSphere/ESXi, ideally on enterprise server and storage hardware
• Working knowledge of ISO 27001 and IT audits
• Experience leading a small team and managing third‑party suppliers
• Must be able to commute to Telford daily and attend site for occasional call‑outs

Nice to have

• Manufacturing or production environment experience
