Job Description:

Marketplace | Hybrid London | Up to £75,000 plus £5,000 bonus

N.B. This role is with a business operating in the adult services sector. Please only apply if you are comfortable working in this space. We will talk openly about the business in the first conversation, so you can make an informed decision early.

Most growth roles hand you a mature channel mix and ask you to find another few percentage points.

This one gives you the acquisition function, a market where the usual digital playbook does not always work, and the opportunity to shape what growth looks like next.

Our client is a long established online classifieds marketplace serving millions of users each month across four European markets. Its core UK category is adult services, with independent professionals and agencies paying to advertise and increase their visibility.

It is a legal but highly scrutinised market, and the business has invested heavily in safeguarding technology, specialist teams and relationships across law enforcement, government and the charity sector. The ambition is to be the safest and most trusted operator in its category.

Marketing is built around three pillars: brand, retention and growth.

Brand and retention are established. You will own growth.

Your remit runs from reaching prospective advertisers through to registration and their first advert. Paid search, paid social, retargeting, display, podcast sponsorship, SEO, AEO and GEO all sit within the picture.

The interesting part is the constraint.

Mainstream platforms place significant restrictions on advertising within this sector. Campaigns can be suspended and creative rejected, which means growth cannot depend on simply increasing spend through the obvious channels.

You will need to understand where customers actually spend their time, identify new routes to market and test your way towards a more diversified acquisition engine.

A major priority will be building a referral and advocacy programme from scratch, turning current and former customers into a scalable source of new business.

You will report into the Head of Marketing, own performance and investment recommendations, and regularly present your thinking at board level. You will also help hire and manage an SEO and AEO specialist, creating a much more connected approach across paid, organic and AI driven discovery.

The strongest candidates will bring hands on growth or performance marketing experience within a digital first environment such as marketplaces, classifieds, ecommerce, subscriptions or a two sided platform.

You will understand paid acquisition, funnels, attribution, incrementality and experimentation, but you will also be able to step back from individual channels and make decisions about where growth should come from next.

Experience with referrals, affiliates, partnerships or advocacy would be particularly valuable.

This is a small, busy team, so the role needs someone comfortable moving between strategy and execution.

Someone who can present a growth plan to the board, then get back into the campaigns and work out why something is not converting.

For someone who enjoys solving difficult acquisition problems, there is a lot to build here.

Hybrid working | Central London, Holborn | Up to £75,000 plus £5,000 bonus
