Brightsmith are supporting a growing advanced materials technology business looking to appoint a Chemical Process Technician to join its engineering team.
The business is developing innovative chemical recycling technologies to recover high-value materials, with applications across critical industries including defence and aerospace. This is an exciting opportunity to join during the transition from pre-pilot to pilot-scale operations, playing a hands-on role in building, commissioning and operating new process equipment.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being hands-on, understands how equipment works and takes pride in solving technical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the installation, build and commissioning of pilot-scale process equipment.
- Working with pumps, valves, pipework, heat exchangers and mechanical systems.
- Operating and maintaining pilot plant equipment during development trials.
- Troubleshooting mechanical and process faults, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Supporting engineering and chemistry teams with experimental trials, sampling and data collection.
- Maintaining safe and reliable plant operations as the technology continues to scale.
Experience Required:
- Hands-on experience with industrial process equipment, mechanical systems or pilot plants.
- A practical approach to maintenance, troubleshooting and fault-finding.
- Experience in chemical processing, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, or similar industrial environments.
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of technical challenges.
- An interest in new technologies, sustainability and advanced materials.
Experience with chemical recycling or advanced materials would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
