This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our newly integrated Family Help Service, bringing together assessment and safeguarding functions to provide a more seamless experience for children and families.
As part of the national Families First reforms, we are reshaping how we work with families. Our Family Help Service focuses on building strong relationships, identifying strengths, responding effectively to risk, and ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.
We are looking for social workers who are passionate about making a difference through meaningful direct work and who share our commitment to improving outcomes for children.
About the Role
As a Social Worker within the Family Help Service, you will work directly with children and families from the point of assessment through to longer-term intervention where required. You will undertake Family Help assessments, develop plans that build on strengths, coordinate support, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive and sustainable change.
You will manage a varied caseload that may include children in need, child protection and pre-proceedings work and care proceedings, ensuring children are kept safe while promoting family resilience and independence. Through skilled relationship-based practice, you will seek to understand children’s lived experiences, ensure their voices are heard, and deliver interventions that help families overcome challenges and achieve better outcomes.
You will be supported to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice and professional development, helping us shape and develop our Family Help Service as it continues to evolve.
About You
You will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will have experience of working within children’s social care and be confident in undertaking assessments, analysing risk and developing effective plans for children and families.
You will be committed to relationship-based and strengths-led practice, with an ability to build positive and purposeful relationships with children, families and partner agencies. You will demonstrate sound professional judgement, be resilient in managing complexity, and share our ambition to achieve the very best outcomes for children.

You will have access to a comprehensive learning and development programme, clear pathways for career progression, hybrid working arrangements, and a range of wellbeing initiatives designed to support you throughout your career.
