Associate Director – Transport – London or Southampton

Overview

As Associate Director – Transport, you will lead transport planning delivery and business development across London and the South of England. You will supervise and mentor teams, manage client relationships, and ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget targets. This role combines strategic wining of new work with hands-on project and design management in a multidisciplinary setting. You will drive sustainable infrastructure solutions aligned with our client base and regional initiatives. You will work from London or Southampton, shaping major transport projects and client partnerships.

Responsibilities

• lead on winning new business with private developers and public sector clients
• oversee transport planning deliverables and project performance
• manage client relationships, meetings, reporting, quality, and finances
• instruct, supervise, and review transport planning input from internal and external teams
• mentor colleagues in transport planning, budget, and project management
• deliver transport planning inputs to development and infrastructure projects
• ensure compliance with relevant planning procedures and contracts
• coordinate cross-disciplinary project work within multidisciplinary environments

Key requirements

• Chartered transport professional
• extensive experience delivering transport studies/schemes for private/public sectors in London and/or South England
• degree or Masters in a relevant subject; ideally Chartered (CILT, ICE, or CIHT)
• experience managing transport planning inputs for major development and national highways or county-led projects
• knowledge of National Planning Procedures
