Lead Mechanical Engineer

Overview

As Lead Mechanical Engineer at SMART, you ensure environmental conditions and critical building systems are maintained to a high standard on a contractual site. You will perform PPM, reactive and breakdown tasks on HVAC, water systems, and generators, with troubleshooting via data and alarms. Responsibilities

• Execute routine PPM on mechanical plant per site schedules and asset lists
• Complete reactive/breakdown tasks and identify improvement opportunities
• Document all tasks and ensure KPI/SLA compliance
• Maintain professional relations with colleagues, subcontractors, and client reps
• Keep plant rooms secure, clean, and orderly
• Supervise on-site subcontractors and ensure safe practices per Method Statements
• Enforce Permit to Work, safety procedures, PPE usage, and risk assessments

Key requirements

• Formal mechanical engineering training in HVAC or Plumbing (City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2)
• 2+ years in a similar role
• Desirable: basic electrical knowledge
