Commercial Manager

Overview

As Commercial Manager you will lead the commercial performance of a surveying team on new build and refurbishment projects for a Capital-area contractor. You will oversee cost control, forecasting and contract administration to protect margins while supporting project delivery. You will work closely with project teams to optimise value, manage risk, and drive commercial excellence across schemes. This is an opportunity to shape the commercial approach, mentor surveyors, and progress from Senior QS/Managing QS into a leadership role. You’ll join a established business delivering high-profile projects in a demanding market.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commercial performance of a team of surveyors
• Monitor cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow for schemes
• Oversee contract administration, valuations, and final accounts
• Identify and manage commercial risk and opportunities to protect margins
• Collaborate with project teams to optimise value and control costs
• Coordinate procurement and subcontractor commercial aspects
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and company policies
• Provide guidance and development for the surveying team

Key requirements

• Experience at Senior QS or Managing QS level with a track record in commercial management
• Proven ability to lead and develop surveying teams
• Strong cost control, budgeting, and contract administration skills
• Experience delivering new build and refurbishment schemes
• Knowledge of standard industry contracts and commercial processes
