Senior Cloud Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, develop and operate cloud-native applications on AWS to support critical national security capabilities. You will work in an autonomous Agile DevOps team, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to translate complex problems into scalable cloud solutions. You’ll own the full delivery lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance, applying best-practice cloud engineering. This position offers meaningful impact through secure, high-availability systems and exposure to evolving technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and maintain cloud-based applications and services using AWS
• Build secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions supporting national security requirements
• Manage the full software delivery lifecycle from requirements to maintenance
• Collaborate with end-users and stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering solutions
• Apply AWS services and cloud engineering best practices for high-quality software and infrastructure
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable deployments
• Use scripting and programming to automate processes and improve efficiency
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and continuous improvement
• Work in Agile and DevOps teams, owning technical decisions and delivery outcomes
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve performance and maintainability
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture and share knowledge

Key requirements

• Strong hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience
• Experience with AWS services: EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, ELB, SNS, SQS, IAM
• Proficiency in Shell, Bash or Python; coding in at least one language compatible with AWS Lambda
• Experience with IaC: CloudFormation, CDK or Terraform
• Version control experience (Git)
• Experience in Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or XP)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Good communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams
