Warehouse & Technical Operations Manager (Live Events) – Full Time, Permanent – STORM Events – Peterborough
Great events start with a well-run warehouse.
The right kit, properly prepared. A team that knows the priorities. Problems spotted while there’s still time to solve them. If you know live-event equipment and take pride in getting those details right, we’d like to hear from you.
STORM delivers technical production for corporate events, from small meetings to large-scale conferences and live experiences. We’re looking for a hands-on leader to run our warehouse at STORM Works in Peterborough, bringing together people, equipment and logistics so every job leaves complete, tested and on time.
The Role
At peak periods, the warehouse supports around 20 outgoing jobs a week. You’ll plan the workload across preparation, dispatch, returns and maintenance, keeping things moving as priorities change.
You’ll work closely with project managers and transport colleagues, flagging shortages and readiness risks early. Alongside audio, video and lighting equipment, you’ll oversee the storage, preparation and protective packing of scenic pieces and printed materials.
This role will suit someone who enjoys leading from the warehouse floor: setting clear standards, helping colleagues solve problems and developing a team that takes pride in its work.
What You’ll Take Responsibility For
- Lead the warehouse team, set daily priorities and plan staffing around upcoming jobs and returns.
- Oversee equipment preparation, testing, packing, de-prep and returns, checking that every job is ready for site.
- Keep stock records, equipment locations and job allocations accurate in Current RMS, resolving shortages and discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate loading, unloading and dispatch, supplier deliveries and collections, and hired-in equipment returns.
- Identify and quarantine faulty kit, arrange maintenance and repairs, and check equipment before returning it to stock.
- Keep preparation, returns, storage and repair areas organised, with safe working practices for manual handling, equipment movement and loading.
- Train and support junior colleagues and apprentices, building technical confidence and consistent working habits.
- Manage consumables, reduce avoidable costs and obtain approval for overtime or additional staffing.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll need proven AV industry experience and a strong working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, control, power and cabling, including equipment preparation and basic fault-finding.
You’ll also have experience leading a warehouse or technical team. We’re looking for someone practical, fair and organised, who communicates clearly and stays calm when plans change.
Accurate stock management matters. You should be confident using inventory or rental management systems; experience with Current RMS is an advantage.
Your background could include live-event production, AV rental, theatre or film and television equipment hire, provided you bring the AV knowledge and team leadership this role requires.
We’re also interested in how better tools can make the warehouse work better. You’ll need an open-minded approach to AI and automation, with a willingness to learn, use and help improve systems that make day-to-day operations more accurate and efficient.
The Package
- £50,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
- Electric car option
- Bonus scheme
- Working hours – 40 hours per week, plus: Early and late shifts / Occasional weekends
- 25 days’ annual leave, increasing by one day per year of service to a maximum of 28 days, plus bank holidays
