Software Development Engineer II

Overview

In this role, you design and deliver scalable backend features for Expedia Group’s Credit platform, powering partner experiences in the B2B network. You will work with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into robust services, ensure reliability, and continuously improve engineering practices. You’ll shape technical direction through architecture discussions and contribute to a fast‑paced, agile environment. Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver high‑quality software features for the Credit platform
• Write clean, well‑tested code across the full SDLC, primarily in Java/Kotlin
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence platform direction
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Troubleshoot production issues to ensure reliability and performance
• Review peers’ code and provide constructive feedback
• Improve engineering practices, tooling, and processes within the team
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end B2B experiences for travel agent partners

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong background in designing and building scalable, distributed systems
• Experience with JVM languages (Java, Kotlin)
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes)
• Proficient English communication and ability to collaborate in a distributed team
• Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in a fast‑paced, agile environment
