Quantity Surveyor – Tunnel Project

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a tunnel infrastructure project, based at our client’s offices in Peterborough.

The successful candidate must have proven experience working with NEC3 contracts and a strong background in commercial management, cost control and contract administration within major infrastructure, civil engineering or tunnelling projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in managing project costs, contractual obligations and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of the tunnel project.
• Administer NEC3 contracts, including compensation events and early warnings.
• Prepare cost forecasts, valuations and financial reports.
• Assess subcontractor applications, payments and variations.
• Monitor project expenditure, budgets and commercial risks.
• Support the preparation and submission of applications for payment.
• Manage change control and maintain accurate commercial records.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to ensure effective commercial delivery.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on infrastructure, civil engineering or tunnelling projects.
• Previous hands-on experience working with NEC3 contracts is essential.
• Strong understanding of compensation events, early warnings and change management.
• Experience in cost control, forecasting, valuations and subcontractor management.
• Excellent commercial awareness and contract administration skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work from the client’s office in Peterborough.
