We’re supporting a growing, multi-site restaurant and hospitality group that is looking to appoint a Head of Commercial Finance.
This is a senior, commercially focused role within a fast-paced, operationally driven business, working closely with leadership to improve financial performance, strengthen decision-making and provide greater visibility across a growing portfolio of locations.
You’ll lead the commercial finance agenda, combining business partnering, forecasting, performance analysis and strategic insight. We’re looking for someone who can get underneath the numbers, understand what’s driving performance at site and group level, and turn that into clear, actionable recommendations.
The Role
This is much broader than producing reports and explaining variances. You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations and the wider business to improve commercial performance and support better decision-making across the group.
You’ll take ownership of commercial planning, challenge operational performance, identify risks and opportunities and help senior stakeholders understand where the business is performing well and where improvements can be made.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial finance and business partnering agenda across a multi-site restaurant group
- Partner senior operational stakeholders to provide financial challenge, insight and support around key business decisions
- Analyse site-level profitability, revenue, labour costs, gross margins and wider operational performance
- Lead and improve budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning
- Identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities, translating financial and operational data into clear recommendations
- Develop insightful management information, commercial analysis and performance reporting across the group
- Support strategic initiatives, new site investments and wider business cases with robust financial analysis
- Improve the use of data, reporting and analytics to provide clearer visibility of performance
- Lead and develop the commercial finance team, strengthening business partnering across the organisation
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified accountant – ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent
- Proven experience across Commercial Finance and Finance Business Partnering
- Strong background within a multi-site, operationally focused business, ideally hospitality, restaurants, leisure, retail or a similar environment
- Experience leading and developing commercial finance professionals
- Strong commercial understanding of revenue, labour, cost control, margins and site-level profitability
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex financial and operational data into clear commercial insight
- Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting and performance management
- Commercially curious, influential and comfortable challenging senior stakeholders while remaining close to the detail
