Quality Manager

Company: Allied Protek
Apply for the Quality Manager
Location: Grimsby
Job Description:

Allied Protek is looking for a practical and motivated Quality Manager to lead day-to-day quality control across our engineering design, fabrication and project activities.

The Quality Manager will provide quality support across the company’s engineering and fabrication activities, with responsibility for ensuring projects and workshop activities meet customer, contractual and relevant industry requirements.

Reporting to the Group Assurance Manager, you will take the lead on the operational side of quality control, including inspection planning, welding and fabrication quality, non-conformance management, material traceability and manufacturing documentation.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the business and coordinate external specialists where required, including support for welding procedures, EN 1090 and ISO 3834 requirements, and inspection activities.

The Group Assurance Manager will lead the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System, allowing you to focus on ensuring quality controls are effectively implemented across workshop and project activities.

Key Responsibilities

Your main focus will be ensuring quality requirements are understood and followed throughout fabrication and project delivery. This will include:

  • Quality control and inspection: Planning inspection activities, reviewing quality requirements, coordinating specialist inspections and working with production teams to resolve quality issues.

  • Welding and fabrication quality: Coordinating welding documentation, welder qualifications, ITP’s, material traceability and inspection requirements, with external technical support where appropriate.

  • Documentation and non-conformance: Ensuring manufacturing records and quality dossiers are complete, managing non-conformances and corrective actions, and helping reduce defects and rework.

  • Working with the business: Supporting operational audits, liaising with customers and suppliers on quality matters, and working with the Assurance Manager to address findings and improve quality performance.

You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, helping keep quality activities practical, proportionate and aligned with project requirements.

What we’re looking for

We’re interested in someone who understands the practical realities of engineering and fabrication quality and can work confidently with teams across the business.

Ideally, you’ll have experience in an engineering, fabrication or welding quality role, with a good understanding of inspection requirements, technical documentation, material traceability and non-conformance management. You’ll be comfortable reading engineering drawings, interpreting customer specifications and coordinating inspection activities.

A working knowledge of ISO 9001 and fabrication and welding documentation and NDT is important. Experience with EN 1090, BS EN ISO 3834, would be beneficial, as would relevant qualifications such as CSWIP, IWI, PCN, coating inspection or ISO 9001 auditing.

Just as importantly, you’ll have a practical, organised and solutions-focused approach, with the communication skills to work effectively with production teams, raise concerns constructively and help resolve problems.

You don’t need to be a specialist in every area. We can draw on external technical expertise where required, so we’re looking for someone with a solid quality background who can coordinate activities effectively and ensure the right controls are in place.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied range of engineering and fabrication projects, build relationships throughout the business and make a direct contribution to the quality of our products and project delivery.

With support and access to specialist external resources, you’ll be able to focus on what matters most: maintaining effective quality control, supporting colleagues and helping us continually improve.
