Apply for the Portfolio Analyst
Location: Leeds
Job Description:

An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level Portfolio Analyst to shape the future of Financial Services in Leeds.

Financial Services firms across Yorkshire are under pressure to prove their investment decisions hold up under scrutiny, from regulators and from clients who read the news. This established SME, based in Leeds, has built its reputation on getting that analysis right. They need a Portfolio Analyst who can sit close to the numbers and close to the people making decisions with them.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance across a range of client mandates, flagging risk exposure before it becomes a problem
  • Build and maintain financial models that support investment recommendations for the wider team
  • Prepare client-facing reports that translate technical analysis into plain, useful commentary
  • Work with portfolio managers to review asset allocation and rebalance where required
  • Track regulatory changes affecting the firm’s Financial Services obligations and update internal processes accordingly
  • Support the onboarding of new investment products, including data validation and pricing checks

Here are the skills you’ll need:

  • Three or more years working as a Portfolio Analyst or in a similar investment analysis role
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills. VBA or Python is a bonus, not a requirement
  • Solid grounding in portfolio theory, asset classes, and risk metrics
  • A relevant degree or progress towards a professional qualification such as IMC or CFA
  • The ability to explain complex analysis clearly, whether that’s to a fund manager or a client who isn’t a numbers person
  • Comfortable working to deadlines without cutting corners on accuracy

Key perks and benefits:

  • Salary of £41,000 to £62,500, depending on experience
  • Annual bonus scheme and pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance
  • Generous annual leave with flexible working built around office hours
  • Based full-time in the Leeds office, with genuine scope to grow into a senior Portfolio Analyst position

Why pursue a career in Financial Services?

Financial Services rewards precision, and it pays for it too. Leeds has quietly become one of the UK’s strongest regional hubs for asset management and investment analysis, second only to London in terms of scale, which means a Portfolio Analyst based here isn’t short of options if they want to move up. Get good at this job and the ceiling is high.
