Senior Compliance Manager, Analytics & Innovation | AI Governance & Trade Surveillance

Overview

In this role you drive AI governance and model risk for bp’s global Supply, Trading & Shipping activities. You will monitor external developments, shape governance guidance, and translate risks into practical controls. You’ll partner with compliance, trading and technology teams to advance analytics and trade-surveillance capabilities, exploring agentic AI use cases and moving ideas from experiments to controlled implementation. The position offers visibility with senior leaders and an opportunity to lead cross‑regional workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Analytics & Innovation team within Ethics & Compliance across Supply, Trading & Shipping
• Act as the authority on Generative AI, Agentic AI, AI governance, model risk and emerging technologies
• Monitor regulatory expectations and evolving risks to inform governance, controls and guidance
• Identify and evaluate AI and automation use cases with in‑house tech teams to deliver practical, well‑governed solutions
• Establish governance for agentic systems including boundaries, human oversight, access, auditability and monitoring
• Enhance technology-enabled compliance monitoring, analytics and trade‑surveillance capabilities
• Own and maintain control-framework governance, including design standards, ownership, documentation, change control and reporting
• Provide oversight on control design and effectiveness, supporting remediation and continuous improvement
• Support the Compliance Director in strategy execution and global team effectiveness
• Lead global project delivery and provide senior‑level information and insights
• Strengthen trade-analytics capability through coaching, guidance and training
• Provide capacity during major enquiries or investigations and support regional teams
• Build relationships with business leaders to position Ethics & Compliance as a trusted partner
• Foster knowledge-sharing and incident resolution across regions and teams
• Maintain high standards of ethics and compliance advice and oversight

Key requirements

• Extensive experience governing or deploying Generative AI, AI-enabled solutions, automation or advanced analytics in regulated environments
• Strong knowledge of AI governance and model-risk principles, data quality, human oversight and third‑party risk
• Experience turning regulatory and risk considerations into governance and delivery requirements
• Ability to work with data, engineering, product and tech teams; deep software engineering not required
• Experience designing or enhancing compliance monitoring, analytics or trade‑surveillance with tech or vendors
• Strong knowledge of regulated trading and market-conduct risk in energy/commodity contexts or related fields
• Understanding of financial regulation, exchange rules and surveillance expectations across complex products and geographies
• Experience in governance, control design, remediation and reporting; leadership experience
• Excellent judgement, communication and influencing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics
