About Matresa

Matresa is an early-stage maternal health company. We give mothers personalised, preventative support from pregnancy through to two years postpartum, and we work with their employers so that support doesn’t fall away when maternity leave starts or on the first day back. We launch this autumn, we already have early traction with large organisations, and interest in our employer offering is growing.

Because somewhere inside every one of those organisations, there’s a woman up at 3am with a baby in her arms, exhausted, completely in love, and quietly terrified about going back. Will she still be good at her job? Will she cope with leaving her baby? Will anyone remember who she was before? She’s carrying all of it in silence, because she thinks that’s what she’s supposed to do. Her employer wants to help. They just don’t know where to start.

Matresa exists so she isn’t left to figure it out alone. And we need someone to pick up the phone and make sure her employer knows we’re here.

About 90% of this job is talking on the phone. If that sounds like a good day’s work, keep reading. If it makes you wince, this isn’t the one.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the one bringing large employers in, working closely with the founder. You’ll spend your days on the phone with the people who buy this (HR, people, benefits and wellbeing leads), starting conversations that earn a second one, and carrying each opportunity through discovery calls, demos and proposals to a signed agreement.

The rest is the supporting cast. You’ll build your own pipeline through networking, referrals and events, keep the CRM honest, and represent Matresa at industry events. You’ll also tell the team what employers are really saying, because that’s how the product gets better.

About the sale

These aren’t quick wins. Our buyers are large organisations, and a deal usually involves HR, procurement, information security, data protection and sometimes clinical teams. Sales cycles can run from several months to over a year. You’ll keep momentum going through pilots, procurement, security questionnaires and data protection reviews, without losing the people who championed us in the first place.

What good looks like

Paid pilots signed with large employers. That’s the measure that matters in your first year.

Who we’re after

  • You’re at your best on the phone. You ask good questions, you listen, and you can hold a senior person’s attention without a slide to hide behind.
  • You’ve sold B2B before, in sales, business development or commercial partnerships, with a record of winning new business and running your own pipeline.
  • You’ve worked complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles into large organisations and know how to get a deal through procurement.
  • You’re comfortable selling a regulated product. We’re working towards medical device certification (UKCA Class IIa), so you’ll describe what the product does accurately and never overstate clinical outcomes.
  • You’re persuasive without being pushy, and you sound like a person, not a script.
  • You use AI in your day-to-day work without being told to. You’re organised, you don’t need chasing, and you like the pace of an early-stage company.
  • You care about maternal health, because that’s hard to fake in a sales conversation.
  • Experience selling to health insurers, in the UK or the US
  • Experience working with or through employee benefits consultants and brokers
  • A background in digital health, healthcare or workplace wellbeing
  • A good contact book in the employer, benefits or insurance world

Where you’ll work

We’re hybrid. Your home base is 1 Mill Street, a coworking space in Leamington Spa, about a six‑minute walk from the station, which makes the London trips easy. There’s fast Wi‑Fi, meeting rooms for calls, an in‑house coffeehouse and a podcast studio, and you’ll be surrounded by local founders, freelancers and creatives rather than sitting alone in a spare room. The building runs regular free events on sales, marketing and personal development, so a lot of the networking is on your doorstep. When it’s time to be in front of prospects, you’ll be in London for meetings and events.

Early‑stage means you get more say than you would anywhere bigger. You’ll work directly with the founding team, own a core commercial function, and help decide where we go next, including which industries and markets we take on. With share options, you’ll own a piece of what you help build. Get it right and you’ll have built something, not just hit a number.

Equal opportunities

Matresa welcomes applications from everyone, whatever your background. We don’t discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender identity or expression, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. If you need reasonable adjustments at any point, just say and we’ll sort them.
