Job Description:

All Safe And Sound is an event production supplier delivering creative and technical solutions for live events, exhibitions, conferences and brand experiences. Our services span AV equipment, set design and construction, pre-production and on-site delivery, bringing creative concepts to life through careful planning, technical expertise and high-quality production.

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Artworker / CNC Operator to join our production team. This is a hands-on, varied role combining artwork preparation for large-format print, CNC file preparation and machine operation, and close collaboration with our designers, project managers and scenic construction team.

The Role

This is a full-time, on-site Artwork / CNC Operator role based in Waltham Cross.

The successful candidate will play a key role in turning creative designs into production-ready assets, ensuring artwork and CNC files are accurate, technically suitable and delivered to the required deadlines.

Working across multiple projects, you will liaise with designers and project managers to prepare and adapt artwork, coordinate print production requirements and deliveries, and support the scenic team by preparing files for CNC manufacture and operating the machine as required.

This role would suit someone who combines strong artwork skills and technical aptitude with excellent organisation, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced event production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Artwork and Large-Format Print

  • Prepare, check and release artwork files for large-format printing, ensuring files meet the technical specifications and requirements of each project.
  • Review supplied artwork for accuracy, dimensions, resolution, colour, bleed, scaling and other production requirements.
  • Make adjustments and amendments to artwork files where necessary, working from supplied designs and project specifications.
  • Liaise with designers and project managers to resolve artwork queries, clarify specifications and ensure designs are suitable for production.
  • Manage artwork deadlines and coordinate file preparation, print requirements and deliveries to meet project schedules.
  • Maintain clear file structures, naming conventions and version control to ensure the correct artwork is produced and delivered.
  • Quality-check production files and printed output where required, helping to maintain high standards of accuracy and finish.

CNC File Preparation and Operation

  • Prepare and check digital files for CNC machining, ensuring they are suitable for the intended materials, processes and finished components.
  • Translate supplied design and technical information into accurate, machine-ready files, including cutting paths and toolpath requirements where appropriate.
  • Operate the CNC machine as required, following safe working procedures and established production processes.
  • Work closely with scenic carpenters and scenic project managers to understand construction requirements, material specifications and production priorities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting file, machining and production issues, identifying practical solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Support efficient material usage and production workflows, minimising waste and avoiding unnecessary rework.
  • Keep the CNC workspace organised and ensure equipment is used safely and responsibly.

Project Coordination and Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with designers, project managers, scenic carpenters, print suppliers and other production team members.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple live projects, communicating progress and flagging potential issues or delays at an early stage.
  • Ensure files, materials and finished components are ready when required for the next stage of production, installation or delivery.
  • Respond positively to changes in project requirements and tight turnaround times, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail under pressure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of artwork, CNC and wider production processes

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in an artwork, pre-press, print production or related technical production role.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Understanding of artwork preparation for large-format print, including file setup, scaling, resolution, colour and print specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve technical file issues.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across creative and technical teams.
  • A practical, solutions-focused attitude and willingness to get involved in hands-on production.
  • A commitment to working safely and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Experience preparing files for CNC routing or machining.
  • Experience operating a CNC router and familiarity with relevant machine-control or CAM software.
  • Knowledge of CAD or vector-based technical drawing and file preparation.
  • Experience working with sheet materials, scenic construction, joinery, exhibition production or set building.
  • Experience in live events, exhibitions, experiential marketing or a similar deadline-driven production environment.
  • Familiarity with production scheduling, supplier coordination and delivery planning.
