Mechanical Estimator – Milton Keynes

Overview

In this Mechanical Estimator role, you will own mechanical tenders from enquiry to submission, shaping competitive bids for HVAC, heating and plumbing across commercial projects. You’ll collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and delivery teams to ensure practical, buildable, and cost-effective estimates that support winning bids. The position strengthens the pre-construction capability within a growing contractor known for M&E, commercial construction, FM and small works. Your work drives value engineering and alignment with project delivery goals.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of mechanical estimates from enquiry through tender submission
• Review drawings and specifications to produce take-offs and cost plans
• Price labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages
• Build relationships with suppliers and secure competitive quotations
• Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
• Collaborate with project and delivery teams to ensure practical, commercially viable estimates
• Support tender submissions with clear, structured commercial information
• Stay updated on market rates, supplier costs and industry trends

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services or M&E
• Strong understanding of HVAC, heating and plumbing systems
• Experience on commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out or FM-related projects
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical/analytical skills
• Proactive with ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
